Equipment Class Formats

Mixed-Level Reformer

This class is designed to give you a great full-body workout and leave you feeling toned, stretched, and centered! Mixed-level is appropriate for any client with a strong movement foundation and grasp of the Pilates principles and choreography.  These classes will build sequences progressively, so you can choose which level you are ready to work at. Safe for a beginner, but we recommend brand new people try our Intro to Reformer Series or a Level 1 class first!

Reformer and Tower 1

This class will utilize the Reformer and the Tower, 2 pieces of equipment that can be used separately or combined for a challenging workout!

In a  Level 1 class you will work at a more moderate pace,  and the teacher will give plenty of alignment and setup cues, and provide more guidance for equipment transitions and modifications.

In a Level 1 class our goal is for our clients to work to master the Pilates foundations so that they can work deeper in each class and gain the basis in their bodies and understanding to progress to Level 2 if they wish.

Appropriate for beginners but we suggest that brand new clients complete an Onboarding Session or Intro to Reformer series before jumping into a regular group!

Reformer and Tower 2

This class will utilize the Reformer and the Tower, 2 pieces of equipment that can be used separately or combined for a challenging workout!

In a level 2/Intermediate class, expect to build on the fundamentals with intermediate and advanced repertoire exercises and variations, complex choreography, and balance and coordination challenges.

Deep mastery of the fundamentals, good body awareness and alignment and comfort with equipment transitions is a must to move at the pace of an intermediate class.

Prerequisite: Clients must be active injury free, have attended at least 10 level 1/mixed level classes at Core and/or have studio approval to enter intermediate/Level 2 classes. Please email info@corestudiostpaul.com for more information on our prerequisites.

Intermediate Reformer

This Level 2 class builds on the Pilates movement foundations and introduces more intermediate to advanced Reformer repertoire. Expect challenging variations, choreography and coordination.

Deep mastery of the fundamentals, good body awareness and alignment and comfort with equipment transitions is a must to move at the pace of an intermediate class.

Prerequisite: Client must be active-injury-free , have attended at least 10 level 1 classes at Core and/or have instructor/studio approval to take intermediate classes. Please email info@corestudiostpaul.com for more information on our prerequisites.

Athletic Conditioning Reformer

This Level 2 class will focus on improving athletic performance, strength, agility and power! Challenge yourself with exercises that test balance, unilateral movement, weight transference and core stability. Classes may include Reformer, Tower, Chair, Jump-board, TRX, weights, and other small props.

Throughout the class, you will be rebalancing and releasing tight or overused muscles as well as strengthening smaller stabilizing muscles to ensure you are keeping your body balanced as you pursue your favorite sport!

Prerequisites: Must be active injury-free and have intermediate reformer level class experience or instructor/studio approval.

Advanced Intermediate Reformer

Advanced Intermediate Reformer is for those who have fully mastered the foundations of Pilates and the Equipment, and are ready to challenge themselves with some of the more advanced repertoire!

We will be in a variety of positions including plank, spinal inversions, kneeling, standing and balancing. This class moves at a quicker pace, gives less modifications, and more advanced exercises are given compared to an Intermediate Reformer Class.

We will build off of the Intermediate repertoire and foundational concepts, so this class is not for the student who is still mastering the foundations of Pilates and the equipment.

Prerequisites: Clients must be active-injury free and have Advanced permissions assigned from the instructor/Core Pilates.

Recommended at least 3-6 months of consistent practice in Intermediate/Level 2 classes before entering Advanced level classes.

Must be able to bear weight on your wrists and knees for extended periods of time, know your modifications, and be comfortable with balance challenges.

Active Aging Reformer

This class is tailored to clients over 60 who wish to build strength and mobility in a safe and gentle environment. This class will focus on movement basics - on the mat, Tower and Reformer -that will help clients with posture, balance and flexibility.  Instructor will offer modifications that are safe and mindful of the needs of individuals over 60.

Prerequisite: Client must complete either our Onboarding Session or Intro to Reformer series, and/or instructor's approval to enter class.

Active Aging Accelerate

This class is for the client who feels proficient in Active Aging Reformer and is ready for a greater challenge. This class will focus on building strength, balance, and flexibility, and may include intermediate mat and reformer exercises, TRX suspension training, and reformer jumpboard. Clients will need to be comfortable with a faster pace of instruction, confident with equipment transitions, and need fewer modifications.

Prerequisite: at least 10 sessions of Active Aging Reformer, ability to tolerate a hands and knees position for several minutes, to lie face down on a reformer box, straddle sit on the reformer/tower - with minimum modifications. Instructor's approval. Active and acute injuries are not appropriate for this format.
